Three People Arrested after Crash on Avon Street and Whitnall Highway in Burbank

Burbank, CA (May 11, 2023) – Thursday morning, one officer sustained injuries in a crash on Avon Street following a high-speed pursuit.

The crash on Avon Street in Burbank happened on May 11.

The Burbank Police Department said one officer was involved in the crash at Avon Street and Whitnall Highway. The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Reportedly, three people are now in custody in connection with a catalytic converter theft.   

The pre-dawn chase led to the area of Magnolia Boulevard and Mariposa Street, where the suspect vehicle stopped, and the occupants ran off.  

Police arrested one suspect in a nearby backyard, and a second was apprehended shortly after. Following a perimeter search that resulted in the closing of many nearby streets, the third suspect was apprehended.

During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, police found what looked like four or five catalytic converters out of the trunk. Each one has an estimated value of $1,000.
