HOBART, WA (August 5, 2018) – A man was killed and another was injured in a wrong-way crash on Highway 18, on Sunday evening. The deceased victim’s name and place of residence were not immediately disclosed, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred at around 9:45 PM and involved a Honda Pilot and an Acura TL. Officials arrived at the westbound lanes of Highway 18, just east of Hobart, after receiving reports of a serious road collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda driver was heading east in the westbound lanes of Highway 18 when he crashed head-on into an Acura heading west.

The driver of the Acura, a 50-year-old Kent man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda, a 68-year-old Maple Valley man, was rushed to the Overlake Hospital for treatment and evaluation. After he is released from the hospital, he will be facing vehicular homicide charges for driving the wrong way.

Authorities say drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
