1 Dead in Tempe Train Accident near Center Parkway and Washington Street

 
TEMPE, AZ (January 4, 2021) – Sunday morning, a person died in a train crash near Center Parkway and Washington Street.
 
The incident involving a light rail train happened at about 12:30 a.m. near Center Parkway and Washington Street.
 
According to the Tempe police, a car heading east crashed into the front end of the westbound train.
 
As a result, the vehicle driver died at the scene. Meanwhile, responders took the light rail driver to the hospital with minor injuries. Meanwhile, there was no passenger on the train during the crash.
 
The incident led to the closure of Center Parkway and Mill Avenue for investigation. By 6:00 a.m., the area has since reopened.
 
Meanwhile, the identity of the deceased driver hasn’t been released. Also, the authorities haven’t identified the cause of the collision.
 
Thus, they continue to investigate the incident. Also, they haven’t confirmed whether impairment played a role or not.
