1 Dead in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Lee Trevino Drive near Montwood Drive

EL PASO, TX (March 29, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a 77-year-old man died in a tragic pedestrian crash on Lee Trevino Drive.

The incident happened at around 1:30 .p.m. on Lee Trevino Drive near Montwood Drive.

According to reports, El Paso police responded to an initial crash involving four cars and a pedestrian along the 1800 block of Lee Trevino Drive.

Investigators revealed that an 84-year-old woman drove a Nissan Altima westbound along Montwood.

Then, it turned left at the intersection with Amy Sue toward the Vista Hills Shopping Center.

Moreover, a woman driving a Nissan crashed with a Ford Mustang driven by an 18-year-old woman.

Also, the impact caused the Nissan to hit the curb, and hit the man in the wheelchair and two parked vehicles.

Reports confirmed that some occupants were inside the parked vehicles at the time of the crash.

Then, responders transported the man in the wheelchair to the hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries shortly after.

Responders also transported the woman driving the Nissan to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The authorities suspect that “failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn” played a role in the crash.

The incident marked the 17th traffic fatality in El Paso.
