1 Dead in Las Vegas Multi-Vehicle Accident on IR-215
LAS VEGAS, NV (August 24, 2020) – Friday night, a person died in a wrong-way crash on IR-215, the NHP revealed.
The incident occurred at about 11:28 p.m. on southbound IR-215 at Tropicana Avenue.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision involved 4 vehicles, a Mazda sedan, Hyundai sedan, Ford F-250, and BMW sedan.
The investigators stated that a blue Mazda driver traveled the wrong way on IR-215. They added that the driver headed north in the southbound lanes in the right travel lane. Moreover, they confirmed that the driver was the only occupant of the Mazda.
At the same time, a Ford F-250 traveled south on the IR-215 in the left travel lane.
Afterward, the Ford and Mazda crashed and forced the Ford off the road and hit the left concrete barrier.
Meanwhile, the Mazda started spinning across the southbound travel lanes. Then, a southbound Hyundai hit the Mazda’s driver’s side.
Furthermore, a fourth vehicle, a BMW hit a tire that was from the Mazda.
As a result, the Mazda’s female driver died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 3 occupants from the Hyundai and an occupant in the Ford were taken to UMC with non-life-threatening injuries. On the other hand, the BMW driver didn’t require hospitalization.
The authorities haven’t confirmed whether impairment played a role in the accident.
