1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on Business 80 over American River

SACRAMENTO, CA (April 14, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, a horrific pedestrian crash on Business 80 over American River killed 1.

The incident occurred at about 5:20 a.m. in the No. 3 lane along southbound Business 80 over the American River.

A man in his 30s died after being struck by two vehicles while walking in the No. 3 lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said the driver of an Audi A6 traveling in that lane swerved right to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but the vehicle’s left side mirror made contact with him. A Mazda CX-30 following directly behind the Audi struck the man as well.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and came to rest between the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes. The roadway was closed for about an hour as officials investigated the incident.
