SPRINGFIELD, MO (March 24, 2025) – Sunday morning, a woman died in a horrific hit-and-run crash on Interstate 44 near National Avenue.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m. on Interstate 44 near National Avenue overpass between Glenstone Avenue and Kansas Expressway.

Police reported that the driver fled the scene after striking the woman. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews were called to assist in shutting down lanes of I-44 for the crash investigation. 

Authorities are urging anyone who traveled on I-44 on Sunday morning around the time of the incident to come forward with any information.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
