1 Dead in San Juan Capistrano Traffic Crash on San Diego Freeway

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (March 23, 2025) – Saturday morning, a person died in a horrific auto accident on San Diego Freeway.

The incident happened at 8:49 a.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway, south of Junipero Serra Road, said the California Highway Patrol.

A white sedan and a silver sedan collided with enough force to deploy airbags in both vehicles, according to a witness who spoke to the CHP. 

The driver of the white sedan appeared impaired, and a witness reported reckless driving before the crash. The driver’s brother told authorities he received a call in which his brother sounded “out of it.” 

The driver was taken to Mission Regional Hospital, and the CHP later classified the collision as a fatality.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
