1 Dead in San Jose Pedestrian Accident on S Jackson Avenue and Interstate Highway 680

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 7, 2023) – Monday morning, a person died in a pedestrian crash on S Jackson Avenue and Interstate Highway 680.
 
The incident happened at 7:01 a.m. in the area of S Jackson Avenue and Interstate Highway 680 onramp.
 
According to the preliminary investigation, an adult male pedestrian walked in a crosswalk. Then, a 2011 Toyota sedan driven by an adult female hit him.
 
Meanwhile, the Toyota was driving north on Jackson Avenue as it made a left turn onto the southbound Highway 680 onramp. As a result, it struck the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the victim sustained major injuries and responders took him to a hospital. However, the victim later succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
 
His identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.
 
Also, the authorities haven’t disclosed whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
 
The San Jose police handles the crash investigation since happened in the department’s jurisdiction.
 
According to reports, the incident marked the second fatal traffic accident in San Jose in 2023 and the third victim. They also confirmed that the incident was also the first pedestrian death of the year.
