AUBURN, CA (February 5, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, a person died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near State Route 193.
 
The incident occurred at about 12:17 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80 near State Route 193.
 
According to reports, the crash involved at least five cars and a bus.
 
Also, the incident led to the multi-hour closure of all westbound lanes and some eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Auburn.
 
Meanwhile, Caltrans confirmed that all the lanes have since reopened.
 
According to the CHP, a Dodge truck headed east on I-80 at New Castle Road. Then, it collided with a tour bus.
 
Due to the impact, the truck crashed into the center divider where it rolled over. Then, it struck four more cars that were traveling west on I-80.
 
As a result of the crash, the truck driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. Moreover, the occupants of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.
 
Then, responders transported two people to area hospitals as a precaution.
 
Caltrans urged motorists to avoid the area and look for alternate routes.
