Fatal Dead in Castaic Accident on Interstate 5 and Lake Hughes Road

CASTAIC, CA (February 1, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a person died in a traffic crash on Interstate 5 and Lake Hughes Road.

The accident happened just before 9:58 a.m. on Interstate 5, north of Lake Hughes Road.

Then, authorities to the scene arrived at 10:10 a.m.

According to Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesman for the CHP Newhall office, one of the occupants sustained life-threatening injuries. Then, a good Samaritan and a CHP officer tried to initiate life-saving measures. However, the person succumbed to injuries at the scene.

“Upon CHP’s arrival, it was determined to be a solo vehicle, a two-door Honda sedan with four occupants,” Greengard said. “The vehicle appeared to have veered to the left, and collide with the dirt embankment, which caused the vehicle to overturn.”

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
