SANTA CRUZ, CA (March 28, 2022) – Sunday morning, a person died in a single-vehicle crash on Cayuga Street and Effey Street.
 
The incident occurred at around 5:45 a.m. on Cayuga Street and Effey Street. According to reports, a car crashed into a utility pole and trapped two men inside.
 
Thus, responders had to extricate the victims.
 
Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the 38-year-old driver of the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed. Moreover, the 48-year-old passenger from Santa Cruz County succumbed to injuries at the scene.
 
Also, the authorities haven’t clarified whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
