One Person Dies after Head-On Multi-Vehicle Crash on Altamont Pass Road in Livermore

Livermore, CA (November 24, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, one person died, and three others sustained injuries in a head-on multi-vehicle crash on Altamont Pass Road.

The multi-vehicle head-on crash on Livermore happened at around 12:50 p.m. on November 24.

CHP responded to the scene and located a blue Honda Civic sedan and a silver Toyota Prius in eastbound Altamont Pass lanes about three-quarters of a mile east of Greenville Road.

Reportedly, the Honda was driving eastbound on Altamont Pass at speeds of between 40 and 50 mph when it came upon slower-moving traffic and crossed solid double yellow lines in an attempt at passing.

While eastbound in the roadway’s westbound lane, the Honda crashed into the Toyota, driving westbound at about the same speed.

A passenger in the Honda died at the crash scene while the driver suffered major injuries.

Moreover, the Toyota driver and a 16-year-old passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries. 

EMS took all three to hospitals for treatment of injuries; their conditions were not available.
