Deadly San Jose Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101
SAN JOSE, CA (August 9, 2019) – A person died while two others suffered injuries in a fiery multi-vehicle accident on Highway 101 on August 8.
The incident closed the lanes in South Sann Jose for hours, causing a traffic back up into the South Bay for miles
The collision involved four vehicles. Authorities received reports of the crash at 3:29 a.m. on Highway 101 just north of Bailey Avenue and south of state Highway 85. The vehicles caught fire and were destroyed, San Jose Fire Captain Brad Cloutier revealed.
“Vehicles don’t usually catch on fire when they’re in a collision. To have that happen to one of them is pretty rare — to have that happen to four of them is pretty unique,” Cloutier stated.
One lane remained open for several hours. By 7:30 a.m., the crews finally cleared the scene and reopened three lanes. All the remaining closed lanes reopened by 8:15 a.m.
