Unidentified Bicyclist Hospitalized after Collision near Copper Avenue in Fresno

FRESNO, CA (April 29, 2020) – An unidentified man was injured in a bicycle crash on Auberry Road near Copper Avenue.

The bicyclist was riding near Copper Avenue when he weaved into traffic, directly into the path of a utility work truck coming from behind. However, authorities are still trying to find the reason for the bicyclist’s sudden steering.

Despite the truck driver’s initiative to avoid the crash by swerving to the left, the side mirror still struck the man on his head.

Medical responders transported the bicyclist to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Medics say he was suffering from moderate to major injuries.

Authorities later revealed that the man rode an electric mountain bike. They also stated that neither drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The surrounding area on Auberry Road was blocked off during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.

Police did not release any additional information at this time.
