Unidentified Victim Hurt in Traffic Collision near Cook and Washington Street in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, CA (May 5, 2020) – Early Monday morning, a multi-vehicle accident left one person with injuries on 10 Freeway.

According to the police reports, officers first responded around 3:00 a.m., between Cook and Washington Street. An eastbound big-rig rolled over and crashed into the center guard rail. This led to a multi-vehicle accident that stalled the traffic in both directions.

When the authorities arrived, they located the damaged big-rig in the center guard rail, blocking multiple lanes. In addition, one victim was injured.

After the big-rig halted, it spilled around 80 gallons of oil onto the road. As a result, police requested a hazardous materials unit to safely clean up the spill.

The surrounding area on 10 Freeway was closed off during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.

There has been no update regarding the current condition of the injured victim at this time. Once available, more details will be given.
