1 Dead and 1 Hospitalized in Oceanside Car Crash on Mission Avenue

OCEANSIDE, CA (June 18, 2020) – Late Wednesday morning, a person suffered injuries in a fatal fiery crash on Mission Avenue.

According to the police, the crash occurred at 11:04 a.m. on Mission Avenue and Airport Road. When the officers arrived, they located a burning sedan that had rear-ended a Pepsi delivery truck with two occupants inside.

The authorities managed to free both the driver and passenger from the vehicle. However, the officials initiated a CPR after finding out that the unconscious passenger wasn’t breathing.

Responders took both victims to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the passenger succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile, the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Moreover, witnesses revealed that the westbound sedan traveled at a high speed in the No. 1 lane. For unidentified reasons, the driver switched lanes into the number two lane, directly into the rear of the truck.

Reports revealed that the truck driver was outside his vehicle during the crash. The authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role.
