COVINA, CA (October 12, 2020) – Saturday night, a female passenger suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Workman Avenue.
 
According to reports, the driver of a black Tesla fled after crashing his vehicle into a house in Covina. The crash took place after a pursuit.
 
Sgt. R. Rasmussen said that the Tesla Model 3 with paper plates stopped at 9:20 p.m. in the 700 block of South Midsite Avenue. Rasmussen is a watch commander for the Covina Police Department.
 
Furthermore, the department has been helping the California Highway Patrol with the investigation.
 
A CHP spokesperson revealed that the CHP started chasing the westbound vehicle east of Azusa Avenue and San Bernardino (10) Freeway due to reckless driving.
 
Unfortunately, the driver failed to stop and exited at Azusa Avenue, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
 
Afterward, the Tesla made a turn into a parking garage at Azusa Avenue and North Garvey Avenue. However, the driver then escaped after a CHP vehicle approached.
 
After making a right turn to drive east on Workman Avenue, the CHP ended the chase. They stopped because the suspect was driving too fast.
 
Meanwhile, the vehicle crashed into a nearby residential garage, a CHP spokesperson revealed.
 
By 10:15 p.m., responders transported the female passenger to Pomona Valley Medical Center. Moreover, the officers are still searching for the missing driver who escaped on foot.
 
Furthermore, the CHP confirmed that the female passenger sustained moderate injuries.
