CHP Investigates a Wrong-Way DUI Crash on Highway 99 in Visalia

 
Visalia, CA (June 28, 2021) – Early Sunday morning, a 28-year-old driver sustained injuries after a head-on crash with a suspected DUI driver going the wrong way on Highway 99.
 
Subsequently, police arrested Byron Camacho-Najera on felony DUI charges.
 
The Visalia crash happened at around 3:30 a.m. on June 27, near Highway 99 and Avenue 184.
 
The CHP said Camacho-Najera was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 at 70 mph just south of Avenue 184.
 
Then the driver of a Dodge was traveling northbound on Highway 99 around 75 MPH and crashed into the BMW.
 
Police said alcohol use can be a factor in this crash.
 
Further investigation is still ongoing.
