Injuries Reported in Crash Outside Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital

SALINAS, CA (December 17, 2020) – Tuesday night, a triage nurse suffered injuries in an accident in Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

According to reports, a car accidentally crashed into a COVID-19 triage tent outside Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System spokesperson Karina Rusk revealed that the incident involved two employees. However, it didn’t result in any major injuries.

Just before 6:00 p.m., an elderly man tried to pick up his wife and has parked across from the tent.

As he exited, his vehicle was in reverse and drove into the tent. The couple didn’t suffer any injury, Rusk revealed.

Meanwhile, the Salinas Police said that the man was leaving a parking stall when he struck a vehicle. Then, he unintentionally hit the gas instead of the brakes. Then, he crashed into a hospital employee. As a result, the employee suffered minor injuries.

On the other hand, the vehicle crashed into a tent where another employee moved to avoid the crash.

Hadland revealed that the person hit by the vehicle is a nurse.

“That triage nurse who was hit by the car directly, significant enough to shatter the back window of that car,” said Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Emergency Services Director Jeremy Hadland.

Due to the crash, the police took the 75-year old’s driver’s license.
