Northwest Drive Rollover Crash Sends One Person to Hospital

Ferndale, WA (September 5, 2020) – On Friday, one person was hospitalized in a rollover crash on Northwest Drive.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 personnel and Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a rollover crash on the 6200 block area at about 3 p.m on September 4.

As they arrived, they found a blue Tesla 4-door passenger car with moderate front-left body damage.

Also, there was a white Toyota pickup with substantial front-end and passenger compartment damage.

A witness said both vehicles were traveling north on Northwest Drive when the Tesla attempted to turn left into the Boxx Berry Farm retail store parking lot. Toyota attempted to pass and the two vehicles clipped each other.

The Toyota ended up upright on the west side of the road, while the Tesla car stopped in the parking lot entrance.

The Toyota car’s cab partially broke while it’s left-rear tire and wheel were lying to the right where the pickup ended up.

Furthermore, WCFD7 Assistant Fire Chief Dean Crosswhite said there were 4 patients at the scene. Only the Toyota driver was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center.

They transported the driver as a precautionary measure given the various impacts the truck had visibly sustained.

Meanwhile, the WCSO continues to investigate the crash.

Practice safe driving habits on the road at all times. Even when it is empty, even when there is no police officer around. Make sure you make a full and complete stop.
