Lanes Blocked after Six-Vehicle Pileup near Mission Boulevard

 
FREMONT, CA (January 9, 2019) – One person was hospitalized late Wednesday morning following a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 680.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 11:30 AM. Six vehicles, including two big rigs, collided near Mission Boulevard due to unknown circumstances.
 
Emergency responders rushed an unidentified person to a local hospital after suffering major injuries. Further updates on the victim’s current medical condition were not immediately provided. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
 
Dirt and gravel were spread over all lanes, except the HOV lane. Affected lanes were later reopened to the public at approximately 4:30 PM.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
